There is this thought that Cincinnatti has the worst defense in the Big East and I do not agree. Statistically they have given up 366 yards per game, but letâs just put this in respect they have faced an averaged offensive ranked team at 43rd. They come into this game facing the worst offense of the season. Despite seeing top offenses like NC State, Florida, Louisville who has an excellent running game they are ranked 62nd in total defense and 21st against the run which matches up with the strengths of South Florida.  Just as Cinci is playing South Florida the weakest offensive opponent thus far, South Florida is facing the best offense they have seen all year which is starting to kick into gear on all cylinders! The offensive line which was a problem earlier in the year has come up with two huge performances only allowing 1 sack. South Florida has not seen a spread offense like this and defnately not on the road. The closest in terms of talent is Florida and they gave up 38 points to them. Florida though ranked 91st overall while Cincinnati ranked 34th. Itâs not like cinci hasnât seen good defenses either so their rank is legit. Theyâve faced three top 50 defenses in Fresno, NC State and Louisville. You can throw Oklahoma into the pool of teams with talent on defense if you want. Overall Cinci has played top teams including three solid teams out of conference. They are more prepared for this game than South Florida who in their first two real games havenât been able to score a TD.  Take out the Stonybrook game and QB BJ Daniels has had 2 TDâs to 10 interceptions.. The thought that he can beat Cinciâs secondary on the road because they are ranked 104th in pass defense is not true. Cinci has seen the likes of passing attacks ranked 55th, 7th, 12th, 31st, and 51st. They will take advantage and force turnovers against a 107th attack. If this game was not at Cinci and we saw this line a few weeks ago things would be different, but after seeing South Florida play a few times and Cinci really starting to put together solid efforts I think Cinci can really hold South Florida on the ground as they are the best run defense that South Florida has faced this year. Look for Cinci to have a balanced attack with RB Isaiah Pead and WR Armon Binns and DJ Woods to have a couple of TDâs.This defense held Louisville to 3 points in the second half last week on the road. The best is yet to come.
